I started speedrunning Mega Man X5 in June of 2013, I picked the game up because I had liked Mega Man as a kid and this  was my favorite of the bunch. I initially only did races of “8 Mavericks” because I remembered the end of the game being too difficult and I didn’t want to try it, but eventually was pressured into doing so and began learning the All Stages category and quickly enjoyed myself quite a bit. This was my first Mega Man speedrun, and because of that it is quite nostalgic for me to play. I’ve done a bunch of categories and played it quite a lot over the years, and have had my fun with the game, but haven’t really touched on it much in a while. This was a nice stepping stone and a pivotal game in my speedrunning history as it opened up the gate to the Mega Man franchise, and especially X6.
